Jack Fisher is a native of Madison County, North Carolina, and graduated magna cum laude in 1974 from Mars Hill College. He was employed for two years with the Internal Revenue Service and for six years in the tax and auditing departments with Price Waterhouse & Co. in Winston Salem, North Carolina. After leaving Price Waterhouse & Co., Jack became a partner in Barker Ward & Co. and opened their office in Atlanta Georgia. He left Barker Ward & Co. to pursue a family business opportunity but returned to public accounting to become a founding member of Agee, Fisher, Barrett, LLC, a CPA firm located in Atlanta, Georgia. As a Senior Partner with Agee Fisher (changed to Agee Fisher Barrett, LLC in 2006), Jack assisted the firm’s clients throughout his public accounting career in the areas of corporate acquisitions, bankruptcy and corporate reorganizations with a heavy emphasis in tax planning. Jack maintains his CPA status and is currently licensed in North Carolina and Georgia.
In 1998, Jack established his first real estate development business and has, since that time, developed numerous commercial, residential and conservation properties throughout the Southeast, most notably French Broad Crossing and its sister community, The Preserve at Little Pine. He founded Preserve Communities in 2003 and under his tutelage the company has expanded to develop over 22,000 acres of land with entitlements for over 30,000 acres located in major markets across the US. In addition to leading the development of these communities as real estate projects, Jack has served as the manager of multiple successful investment funds incorporating traditional real estate investment while upholding ecologically and environmentally protective ideals.
